Abelmoschus angulosus is a species in the Malvaceae family, native to the Indian subcontinent, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Indonesia. It thrives in temperate and wet environments between 750 and 2000 m elevation. It is the only wild Abelmoschus species with a notable tolerance to low temperatures and light frost.

Description

Abelmoschus angulosus, described by Wight & Arn. in 1834, is part of the Malvaceae family. It is distributed in regions including Cambodia, India, Java, Laos, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Sumatra, Thailand, and Vietnam. This species grows in temperate and wet habitats at elevations between 750 and 2000 m. It is distinguished as the only wild Abelmoschus species with a significant ability to withstand low temperatures and light frost.
