Das Verbreitungsgebiet umfasst unter anderem Parque Nacional Natural Los Nevados, die Antipodeninseln, Südargentinien, zentral- und südchilenische Regionen, die Crozetinseln, die Falklandinseln, Kerguelen, Macquarieinsel, Marion-Prince Edward, Südneuseeland, Peru und Tristan da Cunha. Die Art wurde 2013 wissenschaftlich beschrieben.
