Phlox bifida, auch als cleft phlox bekannt, kommt in den Bundesstaaten Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Tennessee und Wisconsin vor. Sie wurde 1826 von L.C. Beck beschrieben.
