Description
Lecythis ampla, beschrieben von Miers im Jahr 1874, gehört zur Gattung Lecythis und wächst in Ländern wie Kolumbien, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Nicaragua und Panama. Sie ist in Regionen wie Puerto Parra, Antioquia, Bolívar, Boyacá, Chocó, Santander, Cuenca de Río Claro, sowie in den Municipios Carmen del Darién, Río Sucio und Unguía, Cuenca del Atrato, verbreitet. Lecythis ampla ist Teil der Familie Lecythidaceae, die in der Botanik als Lecythidenfamilie bezeichnet wird. In Costa Rica gilt die Art aufgrund ihres Vorkommens und möglicher Gefährdung als besonders schützenswert.
