Polypogon monspeliensis, auch als Gewöhnliches Bürstengras bekannt, ist eine Gräser-Art aus der Familie der Poaceae. Es ist ein einjähriges Gras, das in der Alten Welt beheimatet ist und sich heute weltweit als eingeführte Art verbreitet hat. Es wächst aufrecht und erreicht eine Höhe von 5 Zentimetern bis zu einem Meter. Die weiche, fluffige Blütenstand ist dicht, grünlich und federähnlich, manchmal in Lappen unterteilt. Die Ähren besitzen lange, dünne, weißliche Spreizen, die dem Blütenstand seine Textur verleihen.
Description
Polypogon monspeliensis ist in verschiedenen Regionen wie Alberta, British Columbia, Portugal und auf mehreren Azoreninseln verbreitet. Es wurde 1798 wissenschaftlich beschrieben. Das Gewöhnliche Bürstengras ist eine robuste, einjährige Pflanze, die in vielen Klimazonen gut wächst. Aufgrund ihrer Ausbreitung kann sie in einigen Gebieten als Unkraut betrachtet werden. Sie bevorzugt offene, sonnige Standorte und ist anpassungsfähig an verschiedene Böden.
